SpeedFM
Completed

United by a common interest in motor sports and the motor vehicles in them, I became part of the SpeedFM team, creating a new design to encapsulate future features on the site. Unfortunately, SpeedFM.com.au have changed directions since then and the design is no longer used. During my time with SpeedFM.com.au, I have also facilitated changes in other parts of their site, using the CakePHP rapid development framework.

Music For Horns
Certain Stages Completed

For our third year project, we (as a team of five) have been assignedthe re-development of http://www.musicforhorns.com, a site dedicated to establishing bibliographical references for music featuring horns. Its owner found that the original implementation (the one currently live at the above address) did not serve its intended purpose and appeared to be more of a library system, lacking the flexibility needed to record extra information required to catalogue music. The site is currently approaching its alpha release and will be ready by early October.

My Library Online
Completed

My Library Online is one of the more difficult projects I've done at Griffith. In teams of three, we had to create a non-trivial scenario and then a site from that scenario, which best utilised features of the Oracle Database Management System. The site had to be written in PHP. We received a distinction for our proposal and implementation, which was an online library. The site had five levels of users:

  • Administration - who have total control over all aspects, with the additional ability of being able to create any type of user account, including other administrators, at the Oracle level (ie, user accounts can be accessed concurrently)
  • Editors - who have control over reviews of library items
  • Managers - who can change product cost and view reports such as purchasing statistics
  • Regular Users - who can purchase items and provide reveiew on items they have purchased

Having only three team members, our roles overlapped somewhat, resulting in us all writing various aspects of the PHP, user interface, Oracle implementation and documentation. My strengths in this project were in coding the user interface and PHP workings of the site, as well as the design of the database, including the creation of the entity relationship diagram (9 entities, 37 attributes, 11 relations).
